2025-2026 Academic Calendar Addendum

Regular Academic Year:

PHSU offers programs that follow a semester-based, quarter-based, and trimester-based academic calendar with intersessions during the summer term.

Each program determines the length and type of each term.

Typically, the semester-based programs follow one of the following Academic Year structures:

1. Academic Year of 40 weeks of instruction with two semesters (Fall and Spring) of 20 weeks each. The Fall semester is typically from August through December, and the Spring semester is from January through May.
2. Academic Year of 44 weeks of instruction with two semesters (Fall and Spring). The Fall semester is typically 24 weeks from July through December, and the Spring semester is 20 weeks from January through May.
3. Academic Year of 48 weeks of instruction with two semesters (Fall and Spring) of 24 weeks each. The Fall semester is typically from July through December, and the Spring semester is from January through June.

The quarter-based programs are in 39 weeks of instruction structure with three terms of 13 weeks each that take place during the Fall, Winter, and Spring.

For both semester-based and quarter-based programs, the summer session is considered a trailer term and consists of 8 weeks of instruction.

The trimester-based programs follow a structure of 45 weeks of instruction with three terms of 15 weeks each that take place during the Fall, Spring, and Summer trimesters.

All terms begin and end on dates established in the Academic Calendar. Each year, the institution reviews the specific start dates to ensure each program is in compliance with the Academic Year definition and structures.
