NUR 2110 - Nursing Theory and Practice


(3 Credits)

This course focuses on an introduction to nursing education, the nursing process, teaching and learning principles, nurses’ current roles in health care, and the historical, ethical, political, social, and legal aspects of nursing. This information is related to the curriculum requirements and career opportunities in nursing. The content also includes an introduction to Benner’s model and nursing as a ministry. It provides a basic understanding of medical terms and abbreviations. Includes study of prefixes, suffixes, word stems, and technical terms emphasizing proper spelling, pronunciation, and applications. Elementary aspects of the nursing process with emphasis on assessment are incorporated. Forty-five (45) lecture hours.
