PAT 1060 - General Pathology for Dental Medicine
While the diversity of human disease is enormous, it is possible to identify a relatively small number of underlying mechanisms or processes that are common to many different conditions. The study of these underlying processes is termed “General Pathology”. The manifestations of these fundamental pathological processes vary considerably depending on the cause of the problem and the particular cells, tissues, organs, or systems involved. These manifestations represent the diversity of specific disease entities that we observe clinically. The study of these specific disease entities is termed “Systemic Pathology”.
