PHO 5601 - Scientific Writing
This course concentrates on the skills needed for clear and cogent scientific writing, such as needed for grant preparation and peer review journal submission. Students will learn how to structure their paper in logical order, retrieve and summarize key background information, present results clearly, build persuasive discussion sections paper and finish with credible conclusions within the limitations of the information presented in their paper. Success in the class is dependent on effective presentation of scientific information in their final project. Student-oriented approaches that address common problems such as proper use of grammar and punctuation, using and citing appropriate references and writing text without plagiarizing.
Will be measured skill sets.
