DPH 5503 - Bioethics in Public Health


In this course students will have the opportunity to include the history, philosophy and values in the analysis process of a Puerto Rico Public Health Dilemma/Disparities situations. Students will be able to analyze the concepts of health disparities and cultural competence. Using the CITI program, students will learn basic concepts of Ethics and related issues in Public Health research.
The course is divided into three clusters: Foundations of Bioethics; Health Disparities and Cultural Competence and Public Health Bioethics and Puerto Rico health situation.
Several strategies as conferences, group activities, video analysis, on-line tutorial, readings and teamwork presentation will be used to achieve these goals. At the end of the course, students will be able to do a comprehensive Ethical analysis of a Puerto Rico Public Health Dilemmas/Disparities situation.
