NUR 5500 - Leadership in Advanced Practice Nursing

This course focuses on understanding the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) role and its relationship to the theory, research, and practice dimensions of leadership. Students will analyze the social, cultural, political, legal, regulatory, and ethical factors affecting advanced nursing practice and consider the role of nursing leaders in budgeting, cost containment, productivity, staffing, and staff development in addition to the evaluation of overall resources required to implement a program of services. Evidenced-based approaches to delivering advanced practice nursing and resource stewardship will be emphasized.
