NUR 2110 - Nursing Theory and Practice (3 Credits)
This foundational course comprehensively introduces professional nursing practice. Students will explore the historical, ethical, legal, and social contexts of nursing, examining the profession’s evolution and current role in healthcare. The course emphasizes applying the nursing process, particularly assessment, and integrating evidence-based practice to inform clinical judgment. Students will also develop foundational knowledge of medical terminology and explore the importance of effective communication and holistic care. The course integrates Benner’s model of skill acquisition and considers the spiritual dimension of nursing. Forty-five (45) lecture hours.
