PHO 5106 - Communication and Informatics in Public Health

This course will provide an overview of evidence-based communication strategies to promote health and inform the population of health risks. Students will develop academic and professional skills to apply during communication activities, such as scholarly writing, critical thinking, goal setting, literature review, and the use of public health informatics applications. Theory- and strategy-based communication principles and skills needed to effectively disseminate public health information to diverse audiences will be emphasized, focusing on oral and written communication, presentations, risk communication, and the use of various media channels.
