NUR 3131 - Mental Health Nursing (3 Credits)
This course provides students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care for individuals and families experiencing mental health challenges across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on developing therapeutic communication and self-care skills, applying the nursing process to address diverse mental health needs, and collaborating effectively with interprofessional team members. Students will integrate biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual factors into holistic care planning, promoting patient well-being and recovery. The course emphasizes evidence-based practice and ethical considerations in mental healthcare. Forty-five (45) lecture hours.
