NUR 3171 - Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family

(3 Credits)

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the physiological and psychosocial aspects of the childbearing experience, preparing students to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care to women and their families. Students will develop a strong understanding of normal and high-risk pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and interprofessional collaboration. Students will learn to utilize technology to access and apply current information to optimize patient care. Ethical and legal considerations related to maternity care will also be explored.  Forty-five (45) lecture hours.
