NUR 3121 - Medical-Surgical Nursing I


(3 Credits)

This course builds upon foundational nursing knowledge to prepare students for providing safe and effective care to adult and family clients across diverse healthcare settings. Students will integrate theoretical knowledge from various disciplines (life and social sciences, humanities) to assess, diagnose, and manage complex medical-surgical conditions in acute and community settings (hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities). Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and the application of the nursing process. The course emphasizes the importance of person-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and ethical decision-making within complex healthcare systems.  Forty-five (45) lecture hours.
