NUR 4591 - Senior Seminar

(3 Credits)

This capstone course prepares students to transition to professional nursing practice, focusing on the knowledge, skills, and professional values necessary for success in the clinical setting. The course utilizes the NCLEX-RN Client Needs categories (safe and effective care environment, health promotion and maintenance, psychosocial integrity, and physiological integrity) as a framework to integrate previously acquired knowledge and skills. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, clinical judgment, evidence-based practice, and ethical decision-making. Students will develop advanced patient assessment, diagnosis, and management skills, utilizing the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care. The course also addresses legal and ethical considerations within the Puerto Rican healthcare system, preparing students for the nursing revalidation exam.  Forty-five (45) lecture hours.
